During its Fall Special Event, CD Projekt RED, announced the worldwide premiere of The Witcher 2:Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition for Mac computers. The game, which entertained over 2 million players on PC and Xbox 360 is available on the 100% DRM-free distribution platforms GOG.com and Steam. This is the second title the Polish developer has launched for Apple’s platforms, having released the first installment of the Witcher series earlier this year. To celebrate this release, GOG.com and Steam have prepared special offers for all gamers. The Witcher 2 is 25% off and The Witcher is 50% for 48 hours (until the 20th October 2012).

“It’s time to end the common idea that Mac gaming doesn’t offer a proper experience. The Witcher 2 is one of the best RPGs on this platform and definitely the best looking one. Additionally GOG.com has expanded, and, for the first time offers several great titles for Apple computers.” said Marcin Iwiński from CD Projekt RED.

CD Projekt RED has also officially announced the title of its in-development role-playing game. “Cyberpunk 2077” will be set in the world created by Mike Pondsmith, one of the fathers of the cyberpunk genre and the creator of the cult-classic pen-and-paper RPG, Cyberpunk.

“The Team has to love the material. The Team has to want to be faithful to the material. The Team has to have the skills to execute the material and see that vision through to the end. They have to be on fire with the desire to make an extraordinary game. And that leads, at last, to why we hooked up with CD Projekt RED” – Mike Pondsmith commented, why he has chosen to work with the Polish game developer.

Last but not least, the Studio presented a beta version of their development kit, called the REDKit. This modding toolset uses the studio’s in-house REDengine game engine, which was specially designed to create The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings  and the studio's upcoming RPG titles.

The REDkit toolset will be available in the first half of 2013 for free and to everyone who owns a copy of The Witcher 2. Currently, the REDkit is in the Closed Beta phase. During the conference, over 100 modding teams selected from a pool of over 600 squads were given access to it. These modders will assist in the development and perfection of the tools and the game engine itself.

REDkit is a unique development tool that allows any player to create a "living world" with the use of advanced landscape design tools, 24-hour day-and-night-cycle simulations and thousands of ready-made assets used in The Witcher 2. It also makes it possible to modify the original game, a great opportunity for the modding community.
