CD Projekt RED would like to announce that the release date of The Witcher Enhanced Edition has been finally set. Consequently, the vastly improved edition of the acclaimed CD Projekt RED’s magnum opus has been set for the first half of September 2008. Setting the release date for September results from the requirement of polishing all ten language versions and releasing The Witcher Enhanced Edition in all languages at the same time. The Enhanced Edition by itself will be a deluxe one, containing a lot of additional content not available in the basic version of the game.

The exclusive edition of The Witcher apart from the game dvd will also consist of a video dvd, a bonus materials dvd (among all D’jinni the adventure editor and 2 official adventures “The price of neutrality” and “Side effect”), the game soundtrack as well as a music cd with music inspired by the game. The new content and improvements will be available to registered users of the game free-of-charge.

The contest is so popular that we had to delay the announcement of the results of the first stage – we had to have more time to check all the sent works. Big applause for “Ifrit” and “Medusa” groups – creators of the two victorious projects. Below you can find awarded and honoured works:

REDFlame started out as a group of friends who had a collective dream to be a driving force in today’s game market. Tied by this common goal they sought out hardy, creative and loyal people who would join REDFlame on their first project: adventure for one of the best book-based games ever made, The Witcher.

Their first step was working with the developers of The Witcher, CD Projekt RED, and presenting them with a dose of their ideas and talent. REDFlame added intriguing and original features to the game and proved they were capable of creating an interesting storyline, thematic artwork and keeping the high level of quality set by CD Projekt RED.

“Deception” hopes to rock the world of The Witcher harder than a horde of Strigas by allowing the player to choose his own path in the mod’s complex storyline, complete with multiple endings. Expect new and original content such as a new form of attack, Knife Throwing.

The writers, artists, programmers and designers under REDFlame’s banner plan to make Deception a mod worthy of its predecessor.

“There was a murder in a merchants’ caravan which stopped in the Vizima outskirts. The victim is a banker – rich and respected fellow. His comrades find it difficult to resign themselves to this loss. Who could treat this good chap’s life so disgracefully? Surely no other than a doppler – an aberration with a hideous physiognomy, a shape-changer, a mockery of all gods and the Eternal Fire itself. It was hiding as one of mercenaries travelling with the merchants. And because this litter, this vale’s disgrace run away, the crime can’t be punished. Who will capture the culprit? Who will make him hang on the gallows? Efrem, the captain of the guard decided to look for a professional dealing with monsters and infernal creatures – a witcher.”

Masquerade is the first adventure prepared by modding group established in March this year – Ifrit. The adventure transfers the player to the outskirts known from the I Act of the original game, where the captain of the local guard is running an investigation concerning the murder of a banker from Vengerbergian caravan. Masquerade offers several hours of fun with a complicated detective plot and a few side quests. It is possible to finish the investigation in several ways. At the same time, it’s the first part of a bigger saga, which leads the player into further adventures signed “made by Ifrit” and set in the world of The Witcher.

AMG is young group of enthusiasts. First versions of mod were made by foundator Viacheslav aka Avel alone but now guys from Russian community joined him to help with additional work and creation of new modules.

Player is able to choose one of three characters (Vesemir, Berengar or Lambert) and to play own small story that bards never told before. During the adventures you will meet friends and enemies with special “boss” monsters at the end of each way. The module is playable now but needs polishing: more additional quests, loading screens etc. Everyone interested in it is welcome. This adventure is supported by "Chronicles of Kaer Morhen".

Some guy told me to write something about myself… [Sure, sure… we all know you are desperate for publicity – CDP RED] Well, I will try although he haven’t actually realized that it will be hard to put everything in such short text. I have a dog, I don’t have a cat and I see beautiful parking when I look thru my window. Yeeep… I think that’s the point! Community has its own requirements!

I saw that previously „spotted” fans was talking about their beginnings on the forum. My own took place back in 2004. As typical youngster I thought I am most important in whole wide world and I did write such a rubbish …. Finally I grown up a bit and did something for the world: for 2 years I manage (in cooperation with Daerdin), I think the biggest, Witcher Fansite (and no, I don’t want it to be all I did for the world in my lifetime!) although we work on some new project now. You will find out what is it…. Soon.

Bests to whole Witcher Community and especially the most “experienced” part of it. I wanted also to say hello to one of the youngest Witcher communities: Matt Geralt, newborn son of Daerdin!
