The Witcher: Enhanced Edition approaches! 1

In May of this year, a completely new and improved version of The Witcher will appear in stores, further improving the game considered by many players and media as the best cRPG of 2007! The Witcher: Enhanced Edition will be a completely polished product. Changes include the removal of technical issues that have kept players from fully enjoying the game, which means loading times that are 80% shorter, improved stability of the game on different system configurations, as well as a whole array of smaller fixes that will increase interactivity and precision in combat. The English-language version will be further improved, as some fans felt the English dialogue suffered from decreased immersion and atmosphere. Speaking of language versions, most of them will be more or less improved. Significant changes will also be made in the German version, where it is planned to re-record the voices for many of the characters. Other changes will include, among many other things, more than 50 new supporting character models, a new inventory panel and more than 100 new animated gestures to increase the game’s visual appeal in dialogue scenes.

Aside from the value-packed retail version, the new content and improvements (including a DVD with the D'jinii Mod Editor, as well as two additional adventures) will be available to registered users in the form of a free downloadable update!

Fansite program launched 3

We’re excited to introduce the official Witcher Fansite Program, which started on 21st February, allowing us to support all fansites’ administrators, Wiki editors and all other people active in the Witcher community. We’ve prepared three ranks (gold, silver and bronze) which will be given to individual sites according to their content. The authors of the sites can expect exclusive materials and interviews, as well as co-promotion and other cooperative efforts with the CD Projekt team. This is just another step in our goal to fully support our excellent fan community.

For the needs of the program we’ve created a special communication platform, where fansite administrators can share news, pieces of advice, edit a shared calendar and work on documents.

You can find the list of the sites taking part in the program here.

If you want to create a site about The Witcher or actively support our community in any other way please e-mail us at: fansite@kaermorhen.com.

Awards and Honors 4

February was another successful month for The Witcher, with many new awards from industry and non-industry magazines coming in. Among the many prestigious awards and honors it is worth mentioning that The Witcher was mentioned in Forbes’ list of 10 Future Classic Games — games they see as potential landmarks in the future of video games. Moreover, the English-language weekly Warsaw Business Journal has honored CD Projekt RED with the prestigious "International Success Story 2007" award in recognition of our efforts to introduce Poland as a major player in the international games industry. The "International Success Story 2007" award is one of four awards given this year by the WBJ editorial staff.

The Witcher has also been named Game of the Year by the editorial staff of the biggest Polish games magazine, CD-Action. We’re also thrilled about being named RPG of the Year by the Swedish edition of PC Gamer magazine as well as RPG of the Year by prominent German site, Gamona (www.gamona.de) .

My encounter was an accident; I was looking on the net for a new RPG. I stumble upon an article about The Witcher and decide to give it a go. After seeing how awesome it is, I decide to go on the board to help others that had issues with it, and slowly but surely, support took most of my time but I am not complaining at all; I love doing troubleshooting and helping others. I want to spread Geralt love all over the world  I am now a global moderator of the international side of The Witcher Forum, always willing to help the community by any means to get the best possible experience. In real life, I have been an Electronic Technician in the Canadian Army for the last 18 years and still have 2 years left to go. I live with my lovely wife Karine. We have 3 children, Michaël (15), Mahée (12) and Karol-Ann (7). I hope to see you all on the forum for years to come and don’t forget, Mid May is a new start!

The Witcher – over 600,000 copies sold! 7

We are proud to announce that the company’s debut video game production, The Witcher, has sold more than 600,000 copies worldwide in just three months. The exceptionally warm welcome given to The Witcher by media and gamers around the world facilitated the commercial success of our game.

The success was commented on by Adam Kiciński, CD Projekt RED Joint CEO: “We are very happy with The Witcher’s performance to date. Our goal was — and still is — to reach one million copies sold during the first year. 600,000 games sold in just three months brings us much closer to this ambitious goal. It’s a great success for us, made all the more impressive by the fact that The Witcher was created by a completely new team and it is our debut both as a game developer and in bringing our products to a global audience. The task was not easy, as The Witcher brand was completely unknown in many markets, and it was released in a busy season alongside franchises that have been on the market for many years. Yet, I can confidently say that we’ve passed this trial victoriously. Actually, only now — as we’ve conquered many of the initial barriers — we can spread our wings, which, of course, we intend to do.”

We would like to thank all gamers who have entrusted us and consequently have contributed to the success of the game!
