CD Projekt RED is pleased to announce the upcoming release of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition 1.5!

The Witcher: Enhanced Edition 1.5 is the newest version of the game, including all bonus content from The Witcher: Enhanced Edition and five additional fan-made adventures. Most importantly, The Witcher: Enhanced Edition 1.5 is completely DRM-free! Playing The Witcher will be even more fun without any form of annoying copy protection. Moreover, the 1.5 version of The Witcher will remove the disc check, allowing you to play the game without the DVD in the drive.

All available versions of the game will be upgraded to 1.5, including the forthcoming The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director’s Cut for North American gamers.

As usual the patch containing the additional content will be available to download for free from our website for all registered The Witcher and The Witcher: Enhanced Edition owners!

More detailed information will be released on our website (http://www.thewitcher.com) as well as on our Press Centre (http://press.cdprojektred.com) in the coming weeks.

but in true Internet fashion, the surprise was beaten to the surprise by the surprise which was originally going to be the surprise, surprising us before the surprise could become surprise we were supposed to be surprised by.

Pardon me for sounding rude, but I really can't see the point of this 'update'. The five new mods would be released on their own eventually(if they haven't been released already), and the uncensored patch and no-CD fix have already been done by fans. All CDProjekt is doing is compiling them together. Why the fancy announcements like 'Witcher 1.5' and 'Director's cut' as if this were a major patch?

Hopefully, beside the no-cd fix and the 5 adventures, there will be more bugfixes and some small technical enhancements so the game will run better than ever. If not there would be no point in releasing this patch, so far the fanmade adventures have been downloadable for some time now and even if these 5 will be completely new adventures there wouldnt be a point to realease them as a patch or a "directors cut" version.

Usually director cuts mean more nudity and violence.  I've been trying to find a good price on the UK edition, but if they release a director's cut patch that will make the US edition uncensored, I will buy that version immediately!!!!

Any Estimated Time of Arrival ?
Soon is a bit vague. Is "real soon now" a week ? A month ? Three months ?

Will the older savefiles work with version 1.5 ?

I'm kinda done with my current game, and I'm trying to decide what to play next. I bought The Witcher at release, but only played it half-way through. I really want to finish this game some day. But should I start playing now, or would it be smarter to wait for 1.5 ? I can wait a week or two. But if the 1.5 patch will be released in September or so, then I can just as well start playing now.

Due to a somewhat lacked enthusiasm to this great news, I would like to express my excitement and say that yes we want it and yes we need it. Even if it is the same old The Witcher that we played oh so many times before.

I am personally fed up [for a while now] with all the RPG/FPS "I am in the [US/Federation/Earth] army now, let's save the world" kind of crap that comes out of our N/A shops. Guys, give us Witcher 1 and 2 and 3.

Hell, as far as I am concerned, just upgrade graphics engine every year and sell it over and over again. I will buy it. If only not to spend money on above mentioned crap. I mean look at E3. Goddammit. Nothing to wait for. Sad

Except for The Witcher 2. And don't be shy to release it on PC and PS3. I'll take two. Smiley

lol.  You'll start to see "enthusiasm" and "attention" to the patch when everyone starts trying to download 1.5 at the same time and then complain on the forum that it's taking too long because hundreds of other people are trying to download it at the same time.  You should have seen the forum when the enhanced edition came out...I didn't know people could get so impatient.

So Red, here's a preemptive THANKS for the new update.  I'm sure it will be great like everything else.
