Here comes a holiday surprise for all Witcher Fans! – A special hotfix for EAX and graphics blur issues! You can download it here. Seasons Greetings from The Witcher Team!Fixes ====================================================== 1) EAX technology problems – this patch resolves problems related to EAX technology, which did not operate properly in conjunction with the game, generating critical errors when activated in the Game Options panel. 2) The patch also eliminates the blur (deriving from “glow” effect augmentation) remaining after cut scenes and dialogue sequences.

many thanks ! i had the problem and implemented a workaround using a different miles library and now it works with the vanilla install of the EE. so it's a real fix for me.

Yeah, I know this is a bit spammy, but never mind that. The EAX and screen blurring hotfix? Have I told you guys that I love you any time recently? No? Well, I do. Really, I love you. You guys are awesome. I couldn't have got a better present for Christmas.

I asked this in the other thread, but:
Does this work with the Steam release?
edit: Just installed it. The Steam release launched and I was able to select EAX sound without a crash. The blur's gone too. AWESOME, I CAN FINALLY PLAY.

Steam will get the update, right? I don't want to install the patch manually.

Thanks! So, it was in fact related to the glow effect and not to the cutscenes. What a weird bug indeed Ho Ho Ho

EAX problem fixed (we have fix for that before) but Shader bug/pixellation in cutscenes on widescreen still appears. And I must still play in some 16:9 window mode to avoid those ugly pixels. I have never encouter blur problem on my GeForce 9600GT (6 different graphic drivers, 3 different versions of DirectX, 2 different computers and still the same problem) so I can't test this fix. Edit: I did some more testing and Forced AF 16x is now more effective than in the previous version of The Witcher and picture quality of 16:10 resolution is now almost the same as in 16:9 resolutions. Thanks to Licaon_Kter for pointing it out.Merry Christmas to all of you!!!!
