Po znakomitej recenzji Wiedźmina na RPG Watch, przyszła kolej na dwa inne serwisy. Gameshark uznał Wiedźmina za jedną z lepszych gier RPG ostatnich lat, przyznając jej ocenę A- (szkolny odpowiednik około 90%) wraz z nagrodą "Editors Choice" i określając ją jako najlepszy CRPG od czasów Baldur's Gate 2. RPG Codex z kolei w swojej szczegółowej recenzji nie przyznał zwyczajowo grze oceny, określając jednak jej wydanie "renesansem gatunku RPG".
