I just came back from my meeting with CD Projekt to check out their demo of "The Witcher" and I'm really impressed with the game so far, especially in comparision to last year.

The hype machine for The Witcher isn't belching out noise like other big RPG titles, but this game is defiantly going to be on my watch list and if you're an RPG fan you should keep an eye on this one as well.

The developers at CD Projekt have rewritten the graphics renderer to use the latest technologies such as pixel shaders, light maps, glows, flares, DirectX 9 effects. The result is definitely eye-opening, and when you toss in the fluid character movement you see during play, there's plenty of eye candy to satisfy just about anyone.

This darkness also extends to the art style, which itself benefits from an Aurora engine modded to the hilt to support DX9, light bloom, and other niceties. The textures are detailed, the character models complex, the water effects pretty, and Geralt's face is almost eerily realistic.

Many RPGs have beautiful graphics... Some are loaded with action... A few have a great story... One has it all. The Witcher. Those are no small words for a company to say, but they seem to be set to back those words up.

The Witcher is one of the last games that we saw before E3 2005 closed its doors for good, but it's certainly an eye-catching one.

The Witcher is quite possibly the most engrossing traditional RPG we've ever seen.
The Witcher looks like it could be the best traditional RPG to hit the PC since Baldur's Gate 2, if it lives up to the promise.

Visually, the game is a joy to watch, the sets, the graphics, the character movements all flow smoothly and look top notch.
