Interview with site creators.

We encourage you to read an interview with the creators of the new version of thewitcher.com: Bitterlix – company responsible for the flash site and graphic vision of the whole project and CD Projekt RED’s web programmer – the author of the community site.

Bitterlix: We are pleased to present you the new “The Witcher” official site. We wanted the game to be promoted in an extraordinary way. That’s why we had to prepare a project that reflects the game’s graphic beauty and outstanding music and, at the same time, is easy and convenient in navigation. The site contains loads of materials, which will arouse each Witcher Fan interest: screen and art galleries, movies, music and many, many more. Surely you will notice that the site changes its appearance depending on the time of the day (6-18 day, 18-21 dusk, 21-6 night) – it’s just a small addition that is supposed to enlarge your pleasure of visiting thewitcher.com over and over again.

Jan Molak CDPR: We’ve decided to divide thewitcher.com into three interrelated parts. As it was already mentioned by Bitterlix crew – the main part is the visit card of the whole project, meaning the flash site. The next element is the community site, which is the witcher portal for the gamers. It will be built up with the help of the game’s fans, both in the case of the subject matter as well as additional services. The last element of the puzzle is the new discussion board.

Bitterlix, tell us please about the cooperation with the developer studio, which we know pays very much attention to the graphic side of the game; how did you communicate with the team?

Bitterlix: We were given very clear directions on the way we have to present game’s atmosphere. The site was to present Geralt meditating in a chamber in Kaer Morhen, the unconquered witchers’ stronghold, which is also one of locations in the game. CD Projekt REDs graphic artists are very sensitive when it comes to the game’s visual side, however, when we presented our idea they were very impressed. There were even some who suggested using some elements in the game. We can be proud of that!

Why is it worth recommending thewitcher.com to anyone? What’s cool about this site?

Biterlix: Many games’ sites are treated as an addition to the game itself. We wanted to propose something more and keep the high standard at the same time – so that surfing the site and its content would be a pleasure itself. If you revisit thewitcher.com, you’ll notice that the time of the day there changes depending on the real time. What you’ll see is a cool combination of idea, graphics, music and sound that perfectly represent game’s world, which was of course the main assumption.

Jan Molak CDPR: From the very beginning of creating “The Witcher” CD Projekt RED could count on gamers’ help, their suggestions and ideas. We’re making this game for you, that’s why your opinion is particularly important to us. It’s the fan community that we’ve created a dynamic section “News & Community” for. It’ll be sort of link between developer and fans. Everyone can send in their art, stories, publish news concerning “The Witcher” world and read regularly updated news. As I’ve already mentioned, the third integral part of the whole thewitcher.com is its new discussion board, engine of which was chosen on the basis of suggestions made by the witcher community. It was important to us to improve the visual side, easiness of usage, and above all the efficiency and performance. Good communication with fans is the basic thing.

One last question. What are your favourite games?

Bitterlix: Mortal Kombat, Ultima series, System Shock, Half-Life. Generally, we are impressed with everything that’s done with real and sincere commitment..

Jan Molak: Fallout 1 and 2, Starcraft. I’ve always liked games which have a good idea in their basis.
